Job
Opportunities with Ganga Prem Hospice
1. General
doctor needed. Part time or full time.
A compassionate and caring
doctor is needed to serve end-stage cancer patients
through the work of Ganga Prem Hospice.
Minimum
qualification: MBBS. Experience in the field of
cancer or palliative care preferred.
Skills
preferred: Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word
and Excel, e-mail, Internet browsing, etc)
Responsibilities:
The applicant must be able to adapt to different
work settings. The responsibilities include but
are not limited to:
- Providing palliative care
to cancer patients, particularly advanced stage;
- Organizing and running
a palliative care clinic;
- Conducting
home care visits to end-stage cancer patients;
- Organizing
and running general clinics in rural areas at
or near the Hospice site; and
- Future work includes
working in an in-patient setting at the proposed
Hospice (near Raiwala, Rishikesh).
Salary:
Rs. 30,000 onwards depending upon qualification
and experience (for full-time position)

Qualified social worker needed. Part time or full
time.
A compassionate and caring
social worker is needed to help end-stage cancer
patients and their families through the work of
Ganga Prem Hospice.
Minimum qualifications: MSW
Skills preferred: Computer
proficiency (Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail,
Internet browsing, etc)
Responsibilities: The applicant
must be able to adapt to different work settings.
The responsibilities include but are not limited
to:
- Extending all-round social
service to cancer patients and their families;
- Providing counselling
at palliative care clinics;
- Conducting home care visits
to end-stage cancer patients and their families;
- Helping patients and their
families in arranging for hospital treatment,
obtaining government grants, etc;
- Helping bereaved families
become rehabilitated; and
- Future work includes working
in an in-patient setting at the proposed Hospice
(near Raiwala, Rishikesh).
Salary: Rs. 8,000 onwards
depending upon qualification and experience (for
full-time position)

term.
Qualified volunteer
doctors and nurses needed in Rishikesh for home
care programme. A compassionate and caring nature
is essential. Knowledge of Hindi preferred. Doctors
and nurses will need to look after their own lodging
and food arrangements.

4. Volunteer for office work.
Part time or full time. Long or short term.
Volunteer needed at GPH office
in Rishikesh to help with simple office work.
Basic computer knowledge and a good command of
English essential. Work includes data entry for
cancer clinics and home care services. Volunteer
will need to look after his/her own lodging and
food arrangements.

Get
Involved
Shradha Cancer Care Trust
needs all the help it can receive to reach cancer
patients and provide palliative care to terminally
ill cancer patients through Ganga Prem Hospice.
We have a very small core
group of volunteers who help with administration
and fundraising, etc for Ganga Prem Hospice and
we could certainly do with some more help. You
can get involved in the Ganga Prem Hospice cancer
care initiative by contributing your time and
skills in many ways.
Palliative
Care Assistance
- Doctors or oncologists,
especially those trained in palliative care
- Nurses, especially those
trained in palliative care
- Physiotherapists
- Qualified alternative
therapists (ayurveda, aromatherapy, homeopathy,
dietetics, yoga)
- Social workers and counsellors
(knowledge of Hindi mandatory)
- Hindi-English translators
for qualified medical volunteers
Administrative
Support
- Train staff in the use
of computers and software (MS Windows, Word,
Excel and Access, web browsing, email)
- Data entry and filing
- Mailing list maintenance
and dispatch
- Inventory of medicines,
medical equipment and other assets
- Website design and regular
updating
- Newsletter design
General
Assistance in Uttarakhand
- Groundwork preparation
for cancer clinics
- Volunteer workers for
our cancer clinics (knowledge of Hindi preferred)
- Creating liaisons with
diagnostic centres, clinics and hospitals
- Help in transporting goods,
staff and patients (vehicle needed)
- Photography of GPH activities
for record keeping, fundraising and publicity
Fundraising
- Design
publicity material (flyers, brochures, posters,
MS PowerPoint presentations, etc)
- Approach foundations,
corporates, companies and individuals for financial
support, donations in kind, etc
- Organize fundraising
events in India or abroad (benefit concerts,
film screenings, dinners, marathons, etc)
- Organize charity sales
in aid of GPH (bake sales, garage sales, etc)
- Distribution of gift
cards in lieu of donations
- Display a GPH
donation box on your premises
Publicity
- Design of material for
cancer prevention and awareness
- Design of publicity material
for cancer clinics and home care programme
- Dissemination of publicity
material
- Display GPH publicity
material in shops, hotels, your vehicle, etc
- Write and publish articles
on GPH and its work
