About Ganga Prem Hospice
Ganga Prem Hospice is a spiritually orientated, non-profit hospice for terminally ill cancer patients. The Hospice will provide medical, social, emotional and spiritual support for individuals and their loved ones as they face life-threatening cancer and in their ongoing grief.

Location

Ganga Prem hospice will be constructed at the foot of the Himalayas near to the town of Rishikesh, which is famous nsot only for its spiritual culture but also for its many well-developed holistic centres.

The Hospice site is located at the serene Gohri Maphi village in Raiwala, Rishikesh, 300 metres away from the river Ganga.

Facilities

Ganga Prem Hospice will offer terminally ill cancer patients first-class medical facilities with a choice of allopathic and non-allopathic treatment. The staff will include cancer specialists, professionals from holistic care systems, general physicians, physiotherapists, dieticians, and specialists in complementary medicine techniques such as yoga, aromatherapy, etc.

The 30-bed Hospice will have a library cum reading room, a meditation and prayer room, as well as a T.V. and recreation room. The Hospice will have mortuary facilities.

Ganga Prem Hospice's Ongoing Work

As part of its out-patient facilities, Ganga Prem Hospice has been offering free of charge oncological consultations, medicines, home care, sponsorship of palliative treatment, diagnostic tests, and even daily provisions for under-privileged cancer patients. Since September 2007, the Ganga Prem Hospice monthly cancer clinics have helped more than 1,500 cancer patients from Rishikesh, Dehradun, Haridwar, and all over the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand.

Home Care for Terminally Ill Cancer Patients

The Ganga Prem Hospice medical team (of one nurse, one counsellor, one complementary therapist, one ambulance driver) goes on home visits every day (doing dressings for patients, attending to their toileting needs, providing them with medicines, checking them for bedsores, cleaning catheters, riles tubes, giving them foot massages, physiotherapy, counselling patients). Soon Ganga Prem Hospice will add a doctor to the team.
