Strategic planning and finances
Ganga Prem Hospice:
Phase One
The Ganga Prem
Hospice project is now in its fifth year of planning
and operations. A successful monthly cancer clinic
is running in Rishikesh where approximately 70-100
patients receive free medicine and consultations
each month. Additional cancer clinics are held
in Haridwar and Dehradun from time to time. The
home care programme is also up and running and
serves about 25-30 terminally ill patients at
any one time.
Plans have now been made
to commence the first phase of Ganga Prem Hospice
in October 2011. The first phase will comprise
the ground floor of the three-floor Hospice, and
will include basic amenities and beds for 5-6
patients. An out-patient clinic is also planned,
which will serve the local community. The estimated
construction cost is Rs. 2,02,52,800 ($450,063
US).

Ganga
Prem Hospice strategic business plan
The Ganga Prem
Hospice project is now in its sixth year of planning
and operations. The Hospice is on its way to providing
free of cost in-patient palliative care and spiritual
support to terminally ill cancer patients. While
the Hospice will eventually be a state of the
art 30-bed facility by the river Ganga in Rishikesh,
the first phase of its in-patient operations will
be as a 5-bed Hospice where oncologists, alternate
medicine therapists, psychologists and spiritual
counselors will provide their services to end
stage cancer patients.
The estimated construction
cost for the 30-bed Hospice is Rs. 4,68,60,800
($1,041,352 US).
The annual running cost for a 5-bed Hospice facility
is estimated at Rs. 61 lakhs approximately ($145,238
US).
