CONSTRUCTION NEWS

INDIA, Gohri Maphi, January, 2017
Last Touches to Construction
Work at the Ganga Prem Hospice inpatient facility site approaches completion in January.

With construction due to be completed by March, the worksite is a bustle of activity. Multiple jobs continued simultaneously on all three floors as well as around the grounds. The floor polishing work was completed on the second and first floors, as was the wall painting work. All doors and windows are now installed throughout the building. The plumbing work was completed on the second and first floors and focus shifted to finishing the remaining work on the ground floor, especially the kitchen. The surface of the roof has been completed; only a final polish remains which will reveal the marble-chip surface.

Outside the building, the fire protection system and rain water harvesting system is nearing completion and will soon be tested. The septic tank is being filled with natural filtering materials beginning with large round river rocks. A bore-well was dug at the site in January to take care of the water consumption needs for the hospice. The roads and parking areas have been leveled and compacted and have received the first layer of cement; the brick walls for the shrine in the south part of the grounds are complete, and work continued on the front boundary wall. This wall features beautiful built-in blue-tiled lotus pools.
