  What Is Ganga Prem Hospice?
Ganga Prem Hospice is a spiritually orientated, non-profit hospice for terminally ill cancer patients. The Hospice is being constructed at the foot of the Himalayas on the bank of the river Ganga.

Situated at Gohri Maphi near Rishikesh and Haridwar, the spiritual and holistic centres, the Hospice will provide medical, emotional and spiritual support for individuals and their grieving families.

Haridwar Clinic Sees Neglected Cancer
Ganga Prem Hospice held a free cancer clinic in Haridwar on the 24th April. Forty-four of the 102 patients attended the clinic had cancer while another seven patients were suspected of having the disease. Many of the patients’ cancers had not been treated and had reached an advanced stage. There was a lot of follow-up work for the GPH team.

First Talk in Palliative Care Sensitisation Drive


 

The first of a series of palliative care sensitization talks aimed at reaching  the youth of Uttarakhand took place at the Care Nursing College in Haridwar on the 20th September. The talks are part of the palliative care drive outlined in the MOU signed between Ganga Prem Hospice and Seema Dental College. The talk by Dr Jyotsna Seth was well received by the nursing students.

New Vehicle Donated for Home Care
Sarada Chiruvolu of New Jersey, USA, has donated a new seven seater TUV jeep for the Ganga Prem Hospice home care programme. The jeep is air-conditioned and is a welcome addition to the GPH fleet which often  has to carry the home care teams in the 45C summer heat.

Our Patient: Anjanavati
Anjanavati is a disadvantaged thirty –eight year old mother of four children. Her neglected cervix cancer has spread in the pelvic region and she suffers from severe pain. Impoverished living conditions and lack of proper toilet facilities make it all the more difficult for Anjanavati to manage the cancer symptoms.
